Eleven Truths Nobody Else will Tell You

1. You have ONE identity: I AM GOD'S. Refuse to be defined by what you do or don't do, have or don't have, or "whose" you are other than God Himself through His Son Jesus Christ.

God gave you passions and talents: do them.

You are different from everyone else and that is GOOD! Be weird. BE YOU. Not the you that you want to be...the you God created you to be.

(Isaiah 43:1, Psalm 89:15-16)

2. This is not the high point of your life. Refuse to believe the lie about "high school is the best time of your life." Determine to make each season of life your best in any situation

Choose to be content AND thankful every day

(1 Timothy 6:19, Philippians 4:6-7)

3. You are weak. But you are strong enough for anything if you use JESUS' STRENGTH.

He WILL give you more than you can handle but not more than HE can handle!

(2 Corinthians 4:16-18, Philippians 4:13)

4. There is no such thing as "happily ever after." (I'm sorry.) You'll never get to the point where you're not stressed/tired/behind/lonely/broke/hurting. So don't buy into the lie of, "If I can just _________ everything will be okay!" YOU ARE BEING REFINED IN DIFFICULT TIMES. It's okay to go through them. Jesus is tough :)

(John 16:33, 1 Peter 1:6-7)

5. The stuff you deal with now will not go away.  It just changes forms. Satan has learned he's really good at drawing us away from God when we're focused on peer pressure, mean girls, the need for acceptance, sexual temptation, image issues, and OURSELVES. Adult women deal with these same issues. Learn to resist the devil and submit to God.

(James 1:12-14, James 4:7-8)

6. You are a child of God...in heaven. NOT A PRINCESS ON EARTH. So don't be a diva. Be a servant/worker in all your relationships.

(Isaiah 43:10, Matthew 9:37)

7. You won't get it all right. You'll make the wrong decision, take the wrong path, fall into temptation, and blow it COMPLETELY.

But you cannot mess up God's plan or diminish His love for you.

In matters of morality: if you don't know, DON'T.
In areas of adventure: if you can, DO.

(Isaiah 41:13, Acts 17:24-28, Romans 8:38-39)

8. Obeying God is the ONLY way to live. HABITUAL SIN LEADS TO HEARTACHE.

Don't "fool around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered you." (CS Lewis)

One of Satan's greatest lies is: "It's not a big deal."

(1 John 5:3, Psalm 119:9)

9. Marriage is hard. Really hard.

You won't change your husband. Only God will IF that husband is listening and obeying God. So don't even DATE a guy who doesn't love the Lord.

Your role in marriage is to be a HELPER and to SUBMIT TO your husband. If you can't do that, DO NOT GET MARRIED. If you can't do that for a certain guy, don't marry him.

(Genesis 2:20-24, Ephesians 5:22)

10. I (Leslie) am not right about everything. Neither is your mom, dad, grandmother, best friend, mentor, or anybody else. Learn to know and hear God for yourself.

(John 5:24, 1 Corinthians 2:10-14)

11. Prayer is hard. So is memorizing scripture, Bible Study, and being a Christian in general. BECAUSE YOUR ENEMY IS WORKING AGAINST YOU HERE MORE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE. So persevere. He can be defeated. Not by you alone; by the weapons Jesus gives you.

(Hebrews 12:1-2, Ephesians 6:10-18)
